FAIRFIELD — A woman is dead and a teenager is in jail after a suspected homicide Wednesday in Vallejo.
Police received calls of shots fired at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the area of 201 Maine St., Building G, according to a press release. Initial reports were that a security guard was chasing a possible suspect, and that he was being detained inside the complex office, the release states.
Officers arrived there and took custody of a 17-year-old boy. He was taken to the Vallejo Police Department for questioning, the release says. His identity and relationship to the victim were withheld.
Police went to an apartment in the building and found Shauntanae Lashauna Brown, 35, dead with what police described in the release as significant injuries that were thought to be the direct cause of her death. Police said in the release that no further information would be released on the nature of the injuries or Brown’s cause of death.
The teen was booked into the Solano County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of killing Brown.
