The shooting was reported at 2:20 p.m. on the 400 block of Capitol Street. Police arrived and found Willie Troy Johnson, who had been shot. Officers provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived, at which point Johnson was taken to a trauma center, where he died, Capt. James O’Connell said in a press release.

No information was released about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Anyone who has information about the shooting is asked to call Detectives Fabio Rodriguez or Raul Munoz at 648-4524, or the Solano Crime Stoppers tip line at 644-STOP. Callers may remain anonymous.

It was Vallejo’s eighth homicide of the year and the second in as many days.
