VACAVILLE — A man was hospitalized for a gunshot wound Sunday after a Vacaville resident fired on three suspected intruders.
Police received reports of shots fired at 8:21 a.m. near the 100 block of Marna Drive. A man called dispatchers and said he shot an intruder in his home, according to a police press release.
When police arrived at the scene, the resident disabled his weapon and gave it to police. He said three suspects entered his home without consent and threatened to assault him, police said.
The victim said he kept his distance and repeatedly told the suspects to leave his home. In fear for his safety, the victim said he fired one shot from his weapon after one of the suspects approached him, threatening bodily harm, police said.
All three suspects fled in a white Mercedes-Benz. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Kevin Fonseca, 20, of Sacramento, and DeJohn Miller, 21, of Vacaville, are suspected of trespassing, burglary and threats, police said. The third suspect’s name was not released.
A police dispatcher said Fonseca was arrested.
