FAIRFIELD — Police early Wednesday released the name of a Bay Area man suspected of shooting a Fairfield man Tuesday night toward the rear of an apartment complex.
Delwan T. Blazer, 33, of San Francisco, was booked into the county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft and for allegedly violating the terms of his post-release supervision, for which he was held without bail, according to Fairfield police.
The shooting occurred on the 1300 block of Crowley Lane after what police described Tuesday night as a possible domestic issue that escalated into a report of a vehicle theft.
While police were investigating the suspected auto theft they heard they heard numerous gunshots, Sgt. Becky Belk said in a news release shortly after midnight Wednesday. Dispatchers then received a call reporting a gunshot victim in the rear parking area of the complex.
The shooting victim, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital and was listed in serious condition early Wednesday. Blazer was found nearby and was taken into custody.
Police continued the investigation Wednesday. Anyone with information about the shooting to call the Major Crimes Unit at 428-7600, the 24-hour tip line 428-7345 or Crime Stoppers at 644-7867. Callers may remain anonymous.
