FAIRFIELD — A Vallejo man was arrested Friday after he allegedly carjacked a car and then crashed it, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
A carjacking was reported at 6:54 p.m. on the 800 block of Broadway Street.
Dashawn Williams is suspected of stealing a blue 1995 Ford Mustang at gunpoint, driving south on Broadway and crashing into two other vehicles at the intersection of Broadway and Tennessee streets. Police said Williams fled the crash scene on foot, with witnesses chasing him until they lost sight of him on Tennessee Street east of Monterey Street.
Two people were seriously injured in the crash and were taken to a trauma center for treatment. A third person had what police described as moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Williams was later found inside a business on the 100 block of Tennessee Street and was taken into custody without incident. Police said he had a semiautomatic handgun in his waistband at the time of his arrest.
Williams, whose age was not immediately released, was booked into the county jail on suspicion of carjacking, felony hit and run, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and being armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to police.
