FAIRFIELD — Police have one suspect in custody and are searching for another in the backyard of a home at Meadowlark Drive and Clay Bank Road after an alleged midmorning theft of a cellphone led to a chase.

Police at the scene say a phone was stolen from a person on Humphrey Drive in Suisun City just before 11 a.m. The victim followed the suspects, who abandoned the car on Villa Circle, which is near Clay Bank Road on East Tabor Avenue. Police entered the nearby backyard with a dog to search at about 11:25 a.m.
