FAIRFIELD — Closing arguments in the trial of a Vacaville man who faces a murder charge were put on hold Friday until next week after his defense attorney said there was additional evidence she wanted jurors to hear.
Rico M. Espitia, 22, is accused of shooting 20-year-old Quinten D. Nears several times in the parking lot of an apartment building on the 1500 block of Alamo Drive on the night of July 30, 2011.
On Thursday afternoon, Espitia’s attorney said she was done with her defense case and would be resting her case Friday morning. She changed her mind.
Judge Donna Stashyn ordered the jury to return to court Wednesday when the new evidence will be presented.
