FAIRFIELD — Fairfield police briefly detained a man and woman on Madison Street on Friday afternoon as they were in a car that had been reported stolen in Vacaville.
For a short time, motorists were unable to get on to Madison Street at Texas Street. Some shoppers and diners at Chez Soul had to wait to leave the area as their cars were blocked in by police cars.
An officer recognized the car as one that had been reported stolen and ran a check on the license plate, said Sgt. Jeff Osgood of the Fairfield Police Department. Police then pulled the car over.
Police searched the car for several minutes before releasing the man and woman. An investigation into the incident continued, Osgood said.
