Man accused in police officer’s shooting death back in court

FAIRFIELD — A Fairfield man who faces the possibility of the death penalty and is accused of killing a Vallejo police officer was in court briefly Friday.
Henry A. Smith, 39, is accused of shooting and killing Vallejo police officer Jim Capoot of Vacaville after a November 2011 bank heist.
Smith was ordered to return to court Sept. 6 when a judge may review the personnel files of several of the police officers who investigated the robbery and killing.
No dates have been set for Smith’s jury trial.
