Little League lawsuit over injured 2-year-old returns to court

FAIRFIELD — A lawsuit filed by parents of a 2-year-old girl struck on the head by a baseball as the family got out of their car to attend a Little League game returns in August to Solano County Superior Court.

Richard and Brenda Camacho filed the suit last year against the Vallejo Little League after the June 12, 2011, incident in the parking lot for Callen Field in Vallejo.

A coach and vice president for the league hit the ball and he should have known the baseball field was designated for minors, according to the suit.

An Aug. 20 case management conference is scheduled in Fairfield.

The brother of the injured 2-year-old girl is a T-ball player in the Little League, the suit states. The family car was in a designated parking lot when the ball struck the girl, according to the lawsuit.

    There is precedence for this. Dude shouldn't have hit the ball so far. Once a ticket-holder is in the stands, that becomes a different story.

    Bottom line: Did the child suffer lifelong injuries as a result of being hit? Suing for costs is acceptable, while suing just for the sake of suing is a waste of money and time.
