FAIRFIELD — Jury selection got underway Friday in the trial of a Suisun City man who faces a murder charge for the Oct. 23, 2012, shooting death of a friend.
Bettina Brown, 41, was shot in the chest as she and two friends, one of them Ryan J. Moore, were playing video games and hanging out at a Stellar Way home.
Moore, 32, had been drinking heavily and picked up a rifle that was in the living room of the home and fired a single shot that struck Brown, according to police testimony at prior court hearings.
Moore’s defense attorney has previously argued that Moore was too intoxicated to be responsible for the killing, which may have been a tragic, careless mistake.
After several hours of questions, the pool of potential jurors were ordered by Judge Wendy G. Getty late in the day to return Wednesday.
