Judge delays decision on overturning murder verdict

By From page A6 | February 26, 2014

FAIRFIELD — A judge on Tuesday put off a decision until at least April 10 about whether to reverse a jury’s guilty verdict for a Suisun City killer.

Judge Wendy G. Getty announced the delay after listening to a juror answer questions for 45 minutes about what took place during closed-door deliberations before the jury found Ryan J. Moore guilty of second-degree murder in August 2013.

Moore shot and killed Bettina Brown on the night of Oct. 23, 2012, at his Stellar Way home in Suisun City. Moore had been drinking heavily before he picked up a rifle and shot Brown in the chest.

The juror, who has signed off on two declarations made under penalty of perjury and who previously answered questions about deliberations, sent Getty a letter about his previous statements about what other jurors said about Moore not taking the witness stand to testify during the trial.

Three other jurors have also detailed what happened during deliberations.
