FAIRFIELD — An insurance company is suing the city of Fairfield for $213,841 over a fire the company says started after a mattress was overturned on a lit lamp when a search warrant was served at a home.
The suit, filed earlier this month in Solano County Superior Court, said the Aug. 21, 2012, fire at 503 Whispering Bay Lane in Suisun City also resulted in the Solano Affordable Housing Foundation paying a $5,000 deductible. The cost of the deductible is included in the lawsuit.
Lt. Greg Hurlbut of the Fairfield Police Department said Friday he could not comment on the suit because of the ongoing litigation.
A Feb. 14, 2014, case management conference is scheduled in Solano County Superior Court.
A two-bedroom townhouse was gutted in the fire across from Crystal Middle School in Suisun City.
