FAIRFIELD — A suspect in a street robbery Saturday on North Texas Street was caught within minutes of the crime, according to Sgt. Randy Boggs.
Police were sent at about 3:30 p.m. to the 2100 block of North Texas Street to investigate.
The 26-year-old victim, a Fairfield resident, was looking at cars for sale in a vacant lot when a man allegedly attacked him, stole his cellphone and rode away on his bike, Boggs said. The victim went into a nearby Wendy’s restaurant to report the crime. The suspect was caught within minutes at the corner of North Texas Street and Acacia Street.
Boggs said the victim positively identified the man as his attacker.
The victim was then taken by ground ambulance with minor face injuries to NorthBay Medical Center.
Leshone Johnson, 34, of Fairfield, was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion of strong-arm robbery.
