FAIRFIELD — One of five teens accused of robbing the owner of the Travis Dairy in June 2011 was in court briefly Monday and had a April 30, 2014, start date scheduled for his jury trial.
James A. Young, 19, faces murder and robbery charges. Young is being prosecuted as an adult and if convicted of both charges, he would face a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole.
The 70-year-old owner, Ho Kim, was assaulted during the robbery and suffered a fatal heart attack.
Young’s four alleged accomplices – James E. Williamson, 16, Osis “O Money” Smith, Dezmon “Young D” Frazier, both 18, and Chelsea Johnson, 19 – all pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter and burglary charges for their actions in the robbery that netted them several packs of cigarettes and $60.
Young has pleaded not guilty.
