FAIRFIELD — The California Highway Patrol will deploy extra officers on St. Patrick’s Day to combat drunken driving.

CHP Solano announced in a press release that it will look for signs of impaired driving and make enforcement stops when necessary. Those who are stopped while under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be arrested. Motorists without a valid driver’s license will receive a citation and could have their vehicle impounded.

Funding was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
