FAIRFIELD — Seven Fairfield residents facing murder or torture charges were ordered Thursday to stand trial for the May 13, 2010, killing of 27-year-old Keith E. Osby Jr.

Damarcus V. Armstrong, 20, Frank P. Bigoski, 28, Janiel D. Miller, 41, Ryan S. Odom, 42, Tina M. Odom, 19, Khalil I. Askari-Roberts, 32, and  Jennifer E. Whittington, 19, each sat alongside their attorneys in a courtroom that also had a half-dozen bailiffs watching over the group on the second day of their probable cause hearing.

Employees of the Springbrook Masonic Temple on Temple Way in Vallejo found Osby’s body in some bushes in the temple’s parking lot. He had been shot once in the back of the head.

Testimony during the probable cause hearing described Osby being lured into a room of a San Andreas Street home in Fairfield, where the group attacked him.

The beating was motivated by a belief Osby had previously stolen a laptop computer and a PlayStation device from the home, according to testimony at the hearing.

After the beating, Osby was bound and gagged, loaded into a borrowed taxi and taken to the parking lot of the Masonic Temple where he was shot and killed, according to police.

The doctor who performed the autopsy on Osby testified that injuries from the beating were so severe that they would have killed Osby if he had not been shot.
