FAIRFIELD — Three people were shot in the leg Friday night in an incident that started at San Jose Court and reached a mile away at Travis Boulevard and Union Avenue after an officer saw a white SUV leave the shooting scene at a high rate of speed and followed the vehicle to Travis Boulevard, Fairfield police said.

One of the people shot was taken from Travis Boulevard to a hospital while the two other shooting victims arrived at NorthBay Medical Center on their own.

None of the injuries are life-threatening, police said.

Further information was not available immediately after the shooting that was reported at 8:34 p.m., said Lt. Kevin Carella.

One of the people gathered at Travis Boulevard and Union Avenue said he could see blood from the shooting victim.

The person, who identified himself as Dean Billings, 17, and said he attends the Sem Yeto satellite campus at Armijo High School, said the area across from Lee Bell Park is often the site of law enforcement activity.

“The cops are here at least three times a week,” he said.
