SUISUN CITY — Police who responded at 3:01 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of Civic Center Boulevard found a man outside of an apartment on the ground, bleeding from a gunshot wound in the leg.

An investigation determined the injury was self-inflicted, Cmdr. Tim Mattos said.

The 21-year-old man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment, Mattos said. The man was conscious and communicating, Mattos said.

The 21-year-old initially told police he had been shot and provided limited information about the shooter. The injured man was cooperating with police to recover the weapon, which is believed to be a handgun.

He does not live at the apartments.
