Workshop to help businesses work with county

By From page A10 | June 09, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Local small businesses on Thursday can learn how to do business with Solano County government.

The free workshop will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Solano County Government Center, Room 1600, 675 Texas St. in Fairfield. Participants will learn about what the county buys, how to register as a vendor and how to sell to the county.

“Selling to federal, state and local governments is an excellent way for small businesses to diversify their customer base,” said Charles Rieger, director of the Solano College Small Business Development Center, in a press release. “During the economic downturn, spending by federal, state and local governments helped counterbalance the decline in the private sector. Government entities have funds to spend and are eager to do business with small businesses.”

Diane Luna, manager of the county’s Central Services Division, will speak. Robert Lane, government procurement specialist with Solano College Small Business Development Center, will give a mini-workshop. There will also be a panel discussion.
