Vaca Valley Auto Parts celebrates 40th anniversary

FAIRFIELD — Vaca Valley Auto Parts has been in business for 40 years and that calls for a party.

Owner Jack Martin threw one Wednesday. He estimated about 800 customers and vendors stopped by the store on 1313 N. Texas St. to say “hello.”

“We had a great day,” Martin said.

Martin runs the business with his wife Evelyn and son Trevor. He said they wanted to thank everyone for their support over the years.

“I bought the business in 1974 from a company called National Auto Parts,” he said. “It was out of Vallejo and this was the branch in Fairfield. We started with a very simple philosophy and that was being the best auto parts store there is. We’ve stuck with that.”

Martin has also worked on promoting North Texas Street. The North Texas Business Committee elected him in 1998 as its first chairman. The committee soon became the North Texas Street Merchants Association, known today as the North Texas Street Business Association.

He worked on the effort for 12 years, Martin said.
