Travis Credit Union offers scholarships

By From page A10 | January 20, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Travis Credit Union will award 20 scholarships of $1,500 apiece.

It is encouraging all graduating seniors who qualify to apply. They must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be bound for a two- or four-year college or university and be a member of Travis Credit Union.

Students who live in Travis Credit Union’s 12-county service region and are not yet members may join the credit union and apply for a scholarship at the same time. Solano County is part of the service area, with Travis Credit Union having its headquarters in Vacaville.

Students may get applications by going to www.traviscu.org or to any branch location. In addition to a completed application, students must submit a 250-word essay, a certified high school transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher. They must submit the package no later than the close of business March 10.
