Rio Vista chamber seeks award nominees

RIO VISTA — The Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce is looking for nominations for its annual awards dinner April 11 that will capitalize on the chamber’s 100th anniversary.

The deadline for award nominees is Sunday. The categories are:

  • Crown Award: Large business in Rio Vista that has demonstrated outstanding involvement, volunteerism and dedication to the betterment of the community.
  • Star Award: Small businesses in Rio Vista also demonstrating involvement, volunteerism and dedication.
  • New Business of the Year Award: A business achieving a successful first year in operation while demonstrating outstanding involvement and dedication to the community.
  • Youth of the Year Award: For a person under 18 who leaves positive impressions through volunteering, giving back to the community while active in groups that help others.
  • Community Spirit Award: Recognizes community service groups or nonprofit organizations that make significant contributions to the Rio Vista community, demonstrating outstanding involvement and volunteerism.
  • Spirit of Excellence Award: For people who demonstrate passion and spirit for the community of Rio Vista in heart and deed.

The event includes dinner, music and silent auctions with items donated from local businesses. The items include overnight stays, admission to local attractions, plus restaurant and local business certificates.

To celebrate the chamber’s 100th year, items representing the past 100 years will be buried in a time capsule that will be unearthed in 50 years.
