FAIRFIELD — Solano County has decided to buy two properties, including 2.55 acres in Solano Business Park in Fairfield.
This Fairfield property on Courage Drive is a vacant lot surrounded by four county properties used for the Health and Social Services campus. Buying it from Solano Park Partners LLC makes expansion of the campus possible, should the county ever choose to do so.
The cost is to be $727,805, with another $4,500 going to closing and related costs. The Board of Supervisors authorized the purchase Tuesday.
Supervisor Jim Spering said the county has been trying to buy this land for years.
The purchase agreement includes a 90-day period to conduct due diligence. An environmental study will determine if the property has wetlands. A previous study showed no contamination on the land.
Supervisors on Tuesday also authorized the county to purchase a 14,708-square-foot former auto sales lot at 1500 Solano Ave. in Vallejo. The county is to pay the Sally S. Taylor Trust $65,000.
Solano County already owns nearby properties at 321, 325 and 365 Tuolumne St. for its Vallejo county campus. The purchase will allow the county to create an additional 37 parking spaces, a county report said.
