FAIRFIELD — With shiny floors and fully stocked shelves, local residents have a new place to seek food, toys and pharmacy items.
Located at 2590 N. Texas St., Walgreens officially opened on Friday.
“We (Walgreens chain) get a lot of business from the base (Travis Air Force Base),” said store manager Harold Houston, explaining why the new store was opened in an area that already has a CVS and Walmart.
“Also, Walgreens didn’t have a presence on this side of town,” Houston added.
To attract customers, the new Walgreens store offers a web pickup option and two express pick-up pharmacy kiosks.
Customers can order items online through web pick-up and come to the store to retrieve the item.
To also save time, the new Walgreens allows customers to pick up pharmacy prescriptions via a touch-screen kiosk.
“This service is for individuals who do not need a consultation when picking up their prescriptions,” said Houston.
For individuals needing immunization before traveling abroad, Walgreens offers an immunization clinic.
“We currently have 13 employees and they all live local,” said Houston.
Walgreens opened 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It has 46 parking spaces and a drive-thru pharmacy.
Fairfield already has a Walgreens located at 1955 W. Texas St.
