Les and Marilyn Huffmaster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1 with a dinner at the Suisun City Senior Center, hosted by Andrew and Elisabeth Huffmaster, their son and daughter-in-law.
The couple was married Sept. 1, 1963, in Chico and have lived locally for 33 years.
The former Marilyn Marie Hoshaw met Les Huffmaster at the Maxwell Baptist Church, where Les was in the choir and fell in love with Marilyn as he stared at her in the congregation.
They went through college together, dating each other and others. They set a marriage date in December 1961, then broke it off. It took Les joining the United States Air Force to help them finally make up their minds about marriage. Les left two weeks after their wedding for 13 months in Korea. He was in the Air Force for 22 years and worked for the United States Postal Service for 22 years. Marilyn was employed by the Solano County Library for 20 years.
They have two children, Eric Huffmaster of Fairfield and Andrew Huffmaster of Newark; and two grandchildren, Nate, 7, and Eva, 5.
