metering lights again_2

Ramp metering lights were to debut Tuesday along eastbound Interstate 80 onramps. They are to remain green all of this week. Next week they are to begin the typical operating schedule of being green Monday through Thursday and alternating between green and red during Friday afternoon rush hour, according to the state Department of Transportation. There are nine onramps with meters from Red Top Road to North Texas Street. The only ramp light not to be operated to meter Friday rush hour traffic is the one at the Interstate 680 connector ramp. The Beck Avenue onramp light also might not be activated until Wednesday because of wire theft, Caltrans officials said. (Robinson Kuntz/Daily Republic)
