Suspect arraigned in Suisun City homicide
FAIRFIELD — The 18-year-old suspected gunman in a November deadly drive-by shooting on Canvasback Drive in Suisun City pleaded not guilty Friday to murder and attempted murder charges.
Aaron J. Bragg was ordered back to court March 16, when a probable cause hearing for his case may be scheduled.
James H. Taylor, 20, was shot in the head while driving his car on the afternoon of Nov. 3. A passenger, Derico Z. Hughes, 21, was shot in the hand. Bragg and a companion, Dominic R. Foster, were in a car that was following Taylor’s car and then pulled up alongside it when several shots were fired, according to police.
Taylor’s car crashed into a parked vehicle.
Foster, 18, was arrested the day after the shooting. Prosecutors opted not to pursue murder charges against him.
Bragg spent two months on the lam before authorities caught him in January.
Police said Taylor and Hughes were arrested at the same time at a Suisun City home a few days before the shooting. Taylor was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics. Hughes was arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.
Police have not provided a motive for the shooting.
