VALLEJO — The city’s third annual Mad Hatter Holiday Festival will celebrate the 160th birthday of Alice, of “Alice in Wonderland.”
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 with holiday activities. At 4:30 p.m., the holiday tree lighting parade will make its way through downtown Vallejo. Hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, who was born in Vallejo, will serve as grand marshal.
Parade watchers will also see the Bethel and Hogan high school bands, the California Maritime Academy cadets and more than 20 Burning Man Festival art cars. A cast of characters from “Alice in Wonderland” will also participate.
Santa will ride atop Raja, the elephant. The White Queen will ride the motorized soft to the tree lighting.
A lighted boat parade follows.
After the parade, families are invited to Alice’s Wonderland, 330 Glenn St., for more music and activities.
Adults are welcome at The Mad Hatter Masked Ball at 7 p.m. It is in Alice’s Palace, 620 Marin St. Entertainment will be provided by FiddleAround and Thee Hobo Gobbelins.
The fun wraps up Dec. 2 with the Grand Victoria Home Tour, entertainment and food. Home tour hours are 4 to 8 p.m.
