SUISUN CITY — In-Shape Health Clubs will open a club at the Sunset Shopping Center on Tuesday.

The club takes over the building that formerly housed Albertsons market. It will be the company’s third club in central Solano County and 49th in California.

“We are proud to be part of this exceptional community and look forward to a strong, long-lasting presence,” In-Shape Executive Vice President Rob Farrens said in a news release.

Albertsons closed in 2006 and the building has been vacant ever since. That’s left a major hole at a major Suisun City shopping center for almost six years.

Mayor Pete Sanchez welcomed the upcoming In-Shape Health Clubs’ opening and health clubs in general.

“With everybody concerned about what’s going on in the economy, it helps their physical and mental well-being,” Sanchez said.

In-Shape Health Clubs was founded in 1981. The two other Solano County locations are in Vacaville.
